Our Story

In 2008, a motivated undergraduate finance student at the University of Illinois Chicago started the Finance and Investment Group (FIG). He was doing well in school, but he noticed a problem: there weren't many chances for students to learn about money in the real world in class.

So, he started FIG, a place where students could get together once a week to work on their financial modeling skills and talk about what's going on in the world and in the market.

As the group got bigger, it had more power. FIG set up the Portfolio Management Team to give students a more focused place to pitch investments and analyze stocks. At the same time, FIG kept working to connect students with finance professionals in a meaningful way.

FIG is more than just a student group now; it's a place where people who want to be finance leaders can start their careers. We host networking events with companies in the field, invite UIC professors to talk about the latest market research, and set up panels with students and professionals who have worked in the field.

Our goal is simple: to help our members learn more, meet more people, and get ready for long-term success in the finance field.
